1) It is
smokin' hot in Atlanta today, quite literally: We're in the 80's, sunny and warm, with a thick layer of smoke from wildfires in South Georgia blanketing the metro area. It's nasty (we're staying inside) and I feel for the people in South Georgia and Florida who have been smokin' hot for weeks.
According to the Georgia Forestry Commission, 52 fires that were burning late Monday have scorched more than 345,000 acres. At one point, parts of the major interstates into Florida were closed because of the fires. I don't even know if it's possible to escape to the beach for Memorial Day Weekend -- Who can afford to, anyway, with gas prices so high?! (I paid $3.07 per gallon yesterday at
Quiktrip on Briarcliff.)
2) 3 DAYS OF SCHOOL and counting...but I'm excited:
