Decatur Book Festival

Good Morning! It promises to be a busy week, with Back To School Night at the elementary school and after-school activities already starting to kick into high gear. I just got back from the Piedmont Dog Park with Mocha, after school drop-off. We've finally had a little break in the heat that has scorched Atlanta for the last month -- nice, big storms over the weekend brought in some much-needed rain and cooler temperatures. But, why am I talking about the weather?!

This coming weekend, Labor Day Weekend, is the Decatur Book Festival, and I am so excited! This is probably our biggest literary event in Georgia, and they have a three-day schedule of events, author appearances, classes, performances and all kinds of stuff that will have any book fanatic or literary type all worked up in a lather of enthusiastic anticipation. There is a full schedule of events available online: Check it out!

I will be helping out at the PaperBackSwap.com booth (very near the Beer Vendor off W. Trinity Pl. Saturday morning.

My friend and author David Fulmer (Chasing The Devil's Tail) will be out and about: 12:30 at the Convention Center for a panel called Mysteries of Time and Place, with fellow mystery authors Cara Black and Tasha Alexander; 2:15 at the Margaret Mitchell House booth for a one-hour Fiction Workshop; and a schmooze and signing at the Bound To Be Read Books booth at 3:30.

Another author-friend and mentor, Rosemary Daniell (Secrets of the Zona Rosa: How Writing (and Sisterhood) Can Change Women's Lives), will be speaking on Sunday afternoon at 2:30.

It is going to be a busy, busy, fun weekend, so be sure to check it out and stop by if you can: The AJC Decatur Book Festival.
