Day 11 - Grocery Challenge

We are really learning the importance of getting OUT OF THE HOUSE for a while, sooner or later, everyday--usually later, which works out great. There is a fine line, though, between everything going along fine all morning...and then suddenly, typically around lunch time, the natives begin to get restless--and annoying as hell, if you try to ignore them or ride it out (there is always one more phone call to make, something else you wanted to accomplish, but know when to say when and GET OUT!).

We have encountered our first major CAMP MOMMY challenge: grocery shopping. I have no desire to go to the grocery store with three kids in tow--I'm not that good. Yet. And, after spending all day, every day on CAMP MOMMY, I'm too exhausted to make the Publix run on my own after Daddy gets home from work. I discovered over the weekend the absolute LUXURY of not leaving the house once, after running around all week--it was fabulous! Even better, when Daddy took one or more kids out and about on errands and adventures, and I had the house to myself. I guess that would have been the time to get out to the grocery store--not likely! (I would have had to get dressed!)

So it's been two weeks, and we have no groceries. Which kind of makes it hard to economize with peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and picnic lunches when we are all out of bread, and peanut butter, and jelly, not to mention everything else. Daddy has been great, stopping by the grocery on his way home from work a couple of times for the absolute essentials: milk, Diet Coke, rum, etc, but sooner or later we are going to have to run a re-supply mission.

We were going to today, but we didn't make it. We ended up going into Target, which is right next to Publix, and by the time we were done in Target...we were too tired to go through the grocery store. It was time to swim! (Much more fun, anyway.) So we went to Grammy's pool, and it was great!

Day #11 Total = $35
($15 lunch and shakes at Arby's; $20 at Target on light sabers*)

* We have been getting ready to go see Star Wars in the theatre--big Family Date Night tomorrow night. Tiger is going to friends, since he is not into movies in general, and he is too young for Star Wars, anyway. Over the weekend, we had Family Movie Night (home theatre) and watched Star Wars Episode I and II on DVD with Zach & Haleigh to get ready for Revenge of the Sith. Tiger camped out in our bedroom and watched Looney Toons. He didn't see any of the Star Wars movies, but he still wanted a light saber--and they've all had a great time dueling today! They opted to spend some of the weekly budget on the light sabers and eat PBJ for the rest of the week...we really have to go grocery shopping tomorrow!
