ESSENTIALS: ClubMom

That's pretty much how I joined ClubMom, "The national membership organization for Moms" several weeks ago: I got an email; it sounded like a good Mom-thing--FREE; I clicked and joined; I got a nice letter from Meredith Vieira (The View host and co-founder of ClubMom); I filed it in email "online registrations"; and didn't think much else about it--although The Voice of Mom Poll they did was very interesting--check that out on the ClubMom website when you join.
I got a couple of emails from ClubMom. Truth be told, I didn't pay much attention at the time--it seemed to be coupons and special discounts, ClubMom "points" for online shopping.
And then, on August 2, I received a pivotal email:
Subject: free massages, manicures, and more in [Atlanta] on August 13th
Whaa? Massages, manicures--two of my most favorite things--FREE? More information, please?
when: Friday, August 13, 2004 - 11:00am to 3:00pm
[smart people - this was the Friday after school started in Atlanta, all Moms SO ready for a little love and indulgence after the long, hot summer!]
where: Gwinett Center - Duluth [just north of Atlanta]
rsvp: Click to reserve your spot today.
[again, EASY--and FREE! They had me at "Subject", I'm telling you!]
Oh, and ClubMom's Day of Indulgence sponsors:
Dodge, Verizon Wireless, Bed, Bath & Beyond, The Home Depot, Coca Cola, KRISPY KREME!
This could be Big Fun!
And it was--OF COURSE, I went! It would be journalistically irresponsible of me, as The Rebel Housewife, to NOT check this out!
