Spring Break - Back to Camp Mommy

Camp Mommy/Spring Break - Day 1
It is Spring Break in Atlanta, and it seems as if everyone else in the world has gone on a trip to the beach or somewhere fun, which is actually good for our 11-year-old son, who is expanding his neighborhood pet sitting business, saving up for a new iPod. So this week, while we are at home and everyone else is off playing, we have two dogs, two old cats (fortunately, the cats are staying in their own house across the street), and one rat from the 5th grade Science classroom. (We hosted two Science class rats at Thanksgiving, but one died.)(Not while in our care, thankfully.) Animal House!
Day 1 - I farmed out all three kids to Grammy's last night, for a last-minute Date Night (We went to see INSIDE MAN at the theatre, and actually got to stay for the whole movie!) and to finish an article on deadline today for Atlanta INtown. I managed to make it to the grocery store for the Spring Break stock-up ($250 - yikes!) this morning before the kids got home.
If you remember the rules from Camp Mommy last summer, modified for Spring Break, we basically have $100 for the week for our activities, Monday thru Friday, including lunches, snacks and activities, to explore all the fun we can find in Atlanta, within driving distance, low-cost or FREE.
We started off easy today, with a little free TV/PlayStation time, while I started the laundry and cleaned the kitchen, and then we were off: We spent the afternoon at the Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center (CRC), which has a fabulous indoor pool with a water slide and a big adults-only hot tub/conversation pool overlooking the pool and water slide. (If they just had bar service to the hot tub, it would be perfect!) We are fortunate to have a low-cost membership to the CRC because of my husband's affiliation with Georgia Tech (his technology company is on the Georgia Tech campus), but the point is to explore all of your options and benefits!
Day 1 Total - $10
for parking ($3.75) & after-swim snacks (we combo'd snack machine goodies and an extra-large Smoothie w/4 straws from the Smoothie Bar).
All in all, a great day!
