NASCAR Birthday - Believe It!

I know you all must be about sick of my Birthday and the 27th and all that, but I have to tell you something, because I know you will not believe this, especially you, Melinda: In the "octave" of my Birthday, as we say, I got the Big Gift, or official notice of it, today--

For my 41st Birthday,
I'm going to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, ya'll!!

WOO HOO!! NO, I can't even believe it myself, and YES, I actually ASKED to NASCAR for my Birthday, since the race this weekend is in Atlanta, a little more or less than an hour away, and it is on Sunday, October 26th, the day before my Birthday -- how cool is that?!

Now my question is: What do you take to a NASCAR Sprint Cup Race? How do you prepare?

Another confession: We are in the Suite Seats at AMS, because, well, it is my Birthday, and while I do love the NASCAR, I was not quite ready to sit in the midst of the hairy, often-semi-naked and drunken, overly-excited crush of humanity on the metal bleacher seats in the stands. Maybe someday, but probably not. It's a crowd thing. And, besides, we get to go down to the Pits and the Garages and stuff before the race starts, and they are going to feed us and get us liquored up and everything! A very "Suite" deal for my 41st Birthday -- topped only by that box of spooky books (another Birthday suprise!) I received from Hachette (Thanks, Valerie!).

So I am off to the NASCAR race -- advice? suggestions? warnings?

thanks for the shout-out! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! we will look for you in the pits b/c that's part of our deal too - PLUS access to the hospitality pavillion AND we get to meet Tony Stewart & Joey Logano (who will drive the Home Depot car next year when Tony bolts to his own team). are you jealous? but then we have to take our seats in the Petty Grandstand with the unwashed masses, not some swanky suite! but it IS your birthday after all. my only advice was to get ear protection, but if you're in the SUITE, it won't matter. Also, check out the rules for being in the pits - long pants, closed-toe shoes, sleeved shirts (do not understand that one), and no bags (I think on that last one). see you at the RACE - boogity boogity boogity....
