CAMP MOMMY 2008 - T.G.I.F.!!

As one of our Rebel Readers emailed today: T.G.I.F.!!

Thanks for all your emails and Comments, by the way, it's great to know how many Moms and Friends are out there enjoying (commiserating? relating to?) our CAMP MOMMY adventures:

"First day at site and I almost wet my pants reading about your day! Thanks for a great start to my day as mother of 2, wife, care taker of 5 animals, and a really big rebel!!!!"

"Please don't burst my bubble about your 2007 Camp Mommy Schedule. After years of spending tons of money to send my kids to camp (so they cannot watch tv, play computers or videos - but actually do something and socialize), this summer the boys only have two weeks of summer camp scheduled...please keep these notes coming. I can refine my plans based upon your firsthand experiences. Thanks for making me grin....."

"I am laughing my head off at your bowling adventure and then the trip TO Publix for the MOM Marg bucket $6.99. That is perfect!!"

"LOL about the bowling and Piedmont Park episodes. I'm always glad to know that my child is not the only one who can act so horribly in public. and I only have one (though I argue she's equivalent to at least 2.5 kids)! reading your Camp Mommy entries keeps me going to work every day:)"

"...am enjoying the camp mommy letters (who of us can't relate - of course I relate more to the kids that are playing video games non-stop while I guiltily work) I just had to comment on the M O M Marg buck on the publix receipt, that's hilarious - and appropo as I have one of those mom buckets in my freezer as well but having put what I thought would be a 'funner' amount of tequila in it - it's egregiously terrible!"

[Thanks for the warning, Marianne!! ;-)]

It's still early, and we're having all kinds of trouble agreeing on what to do today. I'm all for staying home, maybe a quick trip out to Target for a couple of things they need for camp next week -- ALL THREE are camped up next week! (That's me, a little bit excited.) But it's the ONLY week when all three will be in camp.

While I won't be CAMP MOMMY next week, I will be the Driving Mom, get this: the 1st drop-off is at 8am; 2nd is at 9am (Dad to work at the same time, different place, of course); 3rd is at 10am. Pick-up begins at 2pm; then 3pm; then 4pm; and, finally, Dad at 6pm. I think I'm going to take my laptop, notebook and book with me, take myself to the coffee shop or out to lunch everyday and listen through my audiobook of The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment again -- mobile office! Or I could come home and finish up the unpacking/organizing from The Move (April), which has been at a complete stand-still with CAMP MOMMY.

13yo Puberty Angst Boy is going to Junior Police Academy at the Atlanta Police Department training facility (how cool is that?!).

10yo Drama Queen is going to a good, old-fashioned Summer Day Camp (Taylor Camp) at Piedmont Park, put on by one of our most-favorite teachers, the Science teacher at our elementary school. They swim, they fish, they play tennis and golf; arts and crafts; exploring and hiking; they come home at the end of the day dirty, tired and happy -- just exactly what camp should be. DQ is signed up for three weeks, and then she'll go back at the end of July for a "Counselor In Training" week to help out next year, when she is twelve. That's all she wanted to do this summer and she is very excited.

7yo ADHD Phenom is going to ADHD Camp - Summer FUN Camp (day camp) for the next three weeks at The 504 School, here in Atlanta, which is perfect for our brilliant, fun-loving, very ACTIVE Phenom -- kids (and teachers) who can keep up with him!

As for today, the older two 'kind of' want to go to a movie. ADHD Phenom HATES going to the theater, but he is dying to get OUT today (which is a good thing), and he's more than willing to go to Daddy's office while we go to the movie...now the older two are wavering, since it's the opening day for Kung Fu Panda and it might be crowded. GOD.HELP.ME...

Let us know how that mobile office plan works out. It doesn't seem to work for me. The best intentions just aren't enough!
